Infinite "Request" Music Video

Samsung and Infinite have teamed up to promote Samsung's new Galaxy series of products, including the much-anticipated Galaxy Note 3 and Gear Smartwatch. Instead of doing a simple CF, Woolim commissioned a whole song and MV with "Request". The visuals aren't too impressive, it's pretty much them using the Galaxy products while preparing to tour but the song is pretty boss, especially after the kinda lackluster "Destiny."

2AM Club "Heat of The Night"

I'm really getting frustrated. First of all, we have yet to get 2AM Club's second studio album. The "Moon Tower" mixtape only sustained me for so long and though they released newer ones periodically, I want to be able to purchase a physical version. The band has released yet another freebie in the form of "Heat of The Night." This is where the second frustration comes in. Their newer material is screams radio hit, the Dr.Luke-esque drums, the Drake-like lyricism, the all around talent that these guys have, yet I don't see RCA (or whoever they are signed to now) pushing them. At least send them abroad, I'm pretty sure Australia/New Zealand would welcome them with open arms, especially after the success of "Mary" on Kiwi radio. Dudes, I really want that second album. Hopefully with this new single coming in October (that most definitely will change the landscape of alternative rock/pop forever) that we can at least get it in early 2014.

Graded Song:Busker Busker "Love, At First"

After slaying the charts two years in a row with their spring anthem "Cherry Blossom Ending," Busker Busker decided to skip summer and make an autumn inspired second album and release the title track, "Love At First" Borrows heavily from staples of alternative rock back in the late 90s-early 2000s. Think along the lines of Goo Goo Dolls "Iris" or one of Nickelback's less annoying songs. Again we have Beom-Jun Jang utilizing his falsetto, but it sounds lot better and less whiny than in "Cherry Blossom Ending." I'm glad that Busker Busker decided not to follow their same bouncy happy-go-lucky formula.
Final Grade:B
The music shows a couple going through the motions of a break up as they go through their daily routines. It's touching and goes very well with the song. I actually shed some tears. Bravo Busker Busker, bravo!

Chase and Status "Count On Me" Music Video

I'm calling it: Chase and Status's "Count On Me" is one of the best songs of the year *spoiler alert*. It's the most 90s song that I have heard since the UK music scence has latched onto the revival earlier this year and Moko's vocals along with the drum and bass duo's dance-heavy production make it ace as fuck! The music video for "Count On Me" is a conglomeration of the euphoria that the song causes in people, as we see people jamming out in cars, drifting in cars, smoking joints, riding through the streets and partying it up!

F.T. Island "Memory" Music Video

It has been six years since K-Rock band F.T. Island have stepped onto the scene, setting themselves apart from their more polished idol counterparts. The band released a mini album "Thanks To" to commemorate such a monumental event and released a music video for the song "Memory," which really sounds like a J-Rock song. I guess that Japanese sound is really cementing itself into their music since they are really popular there. No word if this will be just a special release or will be promoted on music shows...

Justin Timberlake "TKO"

With part two of "The 20/20 Experience" coming in less than two weeks, we finally get a second single after the Michael Jackson inspired and better-than-Suit-and-Tie-as-a-first-single-choice "Take Back The Night". "TKO" is another throwback JT tune similar to "Cry Me A River" but we also get some "FutureSex/LoveSounds" inspiration. I can't with the college lecture length of his songs lately. Please just released an abridged version of the singles and I will be more than happy to buy the complete albums. Also, it Tmbaland saying "she kill me with that coochie?"

Chromeo "Over Your Shoulder"

Chromeo has been doing the whole funky throwback thing before Robin Thicke and Daft Punk made it trendy to do so this year. The first single from their upcoming "White Women" album is no different. "Over Your Shoulder" is similar to their single "Bonafide Lovin'" and the aforementioned Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" and since funk is the new tea this year, Chromeo better get to work and get that first Billboard Hot 100 hit with this one. Download it for free on their SoundCloud.

Katy B "5AM"

"What Love is Made Of" was a top forty hit but was quickly forgotten. While it was good, compared to the stuff on "On a Mission" and her "Danger" EP, it was kinda reductive, And the promo for this era has just been terrible. Good thing that isn't deterring her from putting out more singles as she premiered "5AM" today. I am feeling this!!! Like really feeling this! The song is what MKS "Flatline" would sound like if they weren't trying to be all Pitchfork friendly. Katy's vocals are spot on like always and the subject is a lot darker, takes us back to the territory of "Go Away" but more upbeat. Rinse, get on your grind. I don't want this alt dance gem to flop!

The princess of pop is back! Britney Spears has been teasing her untitled eight studio album for a while now and this was the month where we got substantial information about it. Now, we have the first single in full a day before it was supposed to be released! "Work Bitch" is a thumping EDM song produced by will.i.am and Sebastian Ingrosso and Britney also had co-writing credits!. Do you guys like the song, or is it a letdown compared to her other leads? G-Dragon "Coup D'etat and "Crooked" Music Videos

G-Dragon has come back with his "Coup D' Etat" album. I'm not a big fan of G-Dragon's solo stuff, but "That XX" and "Missing You" were really good songs from his mini album last year so why not right? Now that Seungri has gotten his time to shine with his "Let's Talk About Love Mini" and the sensual "Gotta Talk To U", GD decided to come back with two tracks:the Diplo and Baauer-produced title track and "Crooked" and both with music videos. Watch both below.
Coup D' Etat Crooked

BTS "N.O." Music Video

BTS snatched every urban inspired K-Pop song this year with "We Are Bulletproof Part 2" and that killer choreography (and Jimin's thrusting.) The group has come back with another mini album and their single "N.O" and while I though the song was just ok, the dancing was of course everything, especially towards the end. I really mean it, THAT ENDING CHOREOGRAPHY WAS EVERYTHANNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!
The video has the boy take some type of psychotic drug and learn math (which is like capital punishment to me) until the boys finally say NO!!! and overthrow the weird doctors and beat everyone up with hip-hop music and more hip thrusting.

Zendaya "Heaven Lost An Angel"

Zendaya would have definitely debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 once her game-changing self-titled debut dropped next week. Unfortunately, the saviour of teen pop's album leaked in full today but luckily Hollywood Records did damage control and uploaded it onto her Vevo. I've already listed to the album front to back (and it slays!!!) so I could do a thorough review in the next couple of days, but this song stood out so it had to be shared "Heaven Lost An Angel" is like a hybrid of a 2AM Club song (the spoken rap part) and something Justin Timberlake would have put on his "20/20 Experience" album. Zendaya comes off extremely confident and I can definitely see a music video for this in the future with Zendaya laying down her swagger (and some cool choreo) on some unsuspecting cutie. Support Zendaya and buy the album when it hit stores next Tuesday.

Graded Song:Zedd "Stay The Night" (feat. Hayley Williams)

"Clarity" was a major hit worldwide and Zedd is planning on re-releasing his "Clarity" LP in a deluxe package with a few new tunes, including the lead single, "Stay The Night" featuring Hayley Williams of punk-pop band Paramore.
It's very similar to "Clarity" in terms of composition and vocal delivery, but because of Hayley's unique earthy vocals they aren't too similar. The song is essentially about someone having a one night stand, but it's a very sensual one night stand as we can see from the lyrics:
"you kill the lights, I'll pull the blinds
don't dull the sparkle in your eyes
I know we were made to break
so what I don't mind"
Could you imagine going to a classy establishment with a date and reciting those lyrics to them? An easy lay right there!!! Some might find it a bit repetitive or a bit basic but I like it a lot, because it reminds me of someone that I want to date (and not bed).

Ariana Grande "Baby I" Music Video

Ariana Grande doesn't seem to mind the Mariah comparisons (for now) and has channeled the diva's image in the visuals for "Baby I". Ariana sports a wide variety of 90s-inspired looks she dances around the city with her friends and dances with them awkwardly. I definitely get some "Fantasy" vibes from the video, but I could care less because it's still stunning anyway. However, I would have liked Ariana to have a love interest to sing to instead of making faces at the camera.

Miley Cyrus "Wrecking Ball" Music Video (Warning NSFW)

Here we go again with the try-hardness. The music video of Miley's stunning mid-tempo ballad "Wrecking Ball" was released today and has totally ruined the song for me. Instead of keeping the video as emotion-laden as the song, the ex-Disney star decided to get buck naked and ride atop of a wrecking ball and go to second base with a sledgehammer. Everyone knows that Terry Richardson is a sick pervert and of course Miley would go along with because this is the real her and she can't stop, won't be tamed and all that other crap. Dammit Miley...

Lorde "Ribs/Hold My Liquor" (Live)

With her debut album "Pure Heroine" coming so soon, the 16-year old songstress known as Lorde has been doing live performances to reinforce the hype that she has acquired and with this live rendition of her song "Ribs" which is about "getting old and stuff," as she says she's definitely did it for me. But wait! Then, she goes on to cover Kanye West's "Hold My Liquor" afterwards. I don't think the word bitch has ever been sung so lovely. Check the HQ video of the performance below.

Katy Perry "Roar" Music Video

With Katy Perry finally dethroning Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" from the peak of the Hot 100, the has released the music video for the single. Katy is sporting a serious Jersey Shore spray tan after her and her man are stranded on a tropical island. After being mauled by a tiger, Katy learns how to fend for herself with the help of her animal friends. Predictable...but still effective enough that I'm actually kind of enjoying the song.

Amelia Lily "Truth or Dare"

I was almost afraid that Amelia Lily had got the axe by Xenomania after her best single to date, "Party Over" flopped on the charts. Her album may have been pushed back, but Miss Lily will not accept the flop tag so easily and has pulled out the big guns and has made fan favourite "Truth or Dare" as the fourth single from "Be a Fighter". "Truth or Dare" falls into that generic dance-pop category that will have her name back in the public domain, while Lily's past songs were all varied on the pop spectrum with the pop/rock of "Shut Up and Give Me Whatever You Got" to the drum and bass stylings of the aforementioned "Party Over". Maybe she should have used this as the follow-up to "You Bring Me Joy" instead since dance isn't much of a thing anymore...

Zendaya "Bottle You Up"

Zendaya is redeeming Hollywood Records poor 2013 performance slowly but surely. Demi Lovato's "Demi" album was subpar compared to the intact and mature "Unbroken" and Selena Gomez's "Stars Dance" was terrible generic dance pop messiness and since Jesse McCartney and Hilary Duff aren't signed with Hollywood anymore, Zendaya will have to be their saving grace and that seems to be the case with the release of her of song "Bottle You Up". The song, a midtempo electronic-driven R&B/pop hybrid, has the "Shake It Up" star lamenting how she could bottle up her love interest so she won't feel so lonely. I'm loving that the song isn't all sunshine and rainbows, but is still teen appropriate as well. So far she's 2-2 for me and I can't wait to hear the rest of her self-titled debut, due September 17th.

Sleigh Bells "Bitter Rivals"

Another album that I can add to the list of things that will kill me! Sleigh Bells is back and coming for your favourite indie-pop singer's alternative weave. "Bitter Rivals" will be the noise-pop duo's third album after their debut "Treats" and the wig-snatching "Reign of Terror" and the first single (the title track) was released earlier this week. The song is a lot more on the pop side and reminds me of an 80s dance ditty, especially when Alexis Krauss sings the chorus. Visually, it looks the the sequel to "Comeback Kid" except there are no creepy close-ups of Allison in a wig and Derek flipping mustard flawlessly into a shopping cart.

Graded Song:KARA "Damaged Lady"

KARA is back. And so is GD, but he can wait because KARA is more important. The girls have been progressing to the mature (not sexy mature but lady-like mature) with each subsequent comeback and this one seems no different as they are dressed like men (kinda). I've only been able to get into their songs "Step" and the J-Pop sounding "Pandora", but "Damaged Lady..."
I think if KARA didn't pick this up, it would have went to Nine Muses (and it would have slayed as much as this does). Vocal delivery was similar to a 90s R&B girl group and the peppiness that is added during that amazing chorus just does it for me. Sweetune has again delivered a 80s sounding instrumental (the guitar sounds like it was ripped straight from Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me"). It's quite infectious and it better get an All-Kill.
Grade:A-
The girls are looking flaw free in the video. I mean literally there was no wrinkle to be spotted. The girls seem to be on dates and their men aren't entertaining them, so what do they do? Change out of their stuffy dinner wear and put on sleeveless dress shirts and terrorize the shit out of them! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (Lady Gaga "Aura" laugh).
