While YG is known for it's hip-hop influence in the K-Pop world, AKMU are a singer-songwriter duo with a more angelic, pure image, with the company kept in tact.
While they were on "K-Pop Star 2", most of their compositions were originals that stormed the digital charts, though my favourite has to be their rendition of Tamia's "Officially Missing You". And I'm actually glad they signed with YG over SM and JYP. They would have been overshadowed by EXO and SNSD and be given the f(x) treatment while JYP would under-utilize their talent and give them basic tunes like "Somebody" by 15& and leave them to fend for themselves.
"200%" is their official debut at YG. Once you get past Lee Chan's kind of awkward rapping and Lee-Soo-hyuns's over-enunciation of some of the words in the first verse and that chorus kicks in. Charming, light and infectious, I remember why I like AKMU so much. They add personality to their music. Anyone could have released this but only few can actually make it believable. P.S I'm also just finding out that Soo-Hyun is only 14 with pipes like that?!
