With the release of their album "Crush" after teasing the public with one-off singles for so long, 2NE1 have dropped the videos for "Come Back Home" and "Happy".
"Come Back Home" is another reggae/hip-hop hybrid with an electronic breakdown, with the video set in some futuristic dystopia. The plot is extremely complex and the graphics are nice, but in combination with the song (which isn't that good), it does nothing for me. A simple on a set video would have been suitable and the money could have went to bringing their tour to other countries. On the other hand, "Happy" is the outlier of the album, a feel-good pop/rock song in the vein of Busker Busker's "Cherry Blossom Ending". This would have made a better title track than "Come Back Home" in my opinion. The video, shot in Los Angeles in 2012, shows the group singing the song in diferent areas sporting high fashion looks. Designer Jeremy Scott makes a cameo appearance towards the end.It says something when the more interesting video of the two is the one without the big budget. I liked the pop up letter effects and Dara with normal styling is always a plus. Watch both videos and decide which you prefer.
