10 K-Pop Songs That Should Have Made Times Best Of List Instead of Mr. Mr.

Time released their 25 Best Songs of 2014 so far list. One of the songs that I disagree with is SNSD's basic pop hit "Mr. Mr", which is probably the 9 member groups worst title track single ever. Knowing Time, they probably selected the song because it belonged to Girls Generation rather than combing over the hundreds of K-Pop songs that dropped over the past six months in order to seem trendy or just selected it because it had the most views on YouTube. Time to throw my two cents in and present ten alternatives that should have made the list instead...

1.Soyu and JunggiGo-Some
Easily, the biggest K-Pop collaboration of 2014. The R&B tune garnered 11 total music show wins, six weeks atop the K-Pop Hot 100, 2 consecutive weeks at #1 on GAON and imagine the sweeps it will do when awards season comes around. It was so big that Soyu's SISTAR bandmate Hyolyn tried to replicate its success with a collab of her own and failed.
2.Son Dam Bi-Red Candle
Though it came out on the tail end of 2013, "Red Candle" shows the versatility of the K-Pop genre by incorporating boss nova instrumentation (courtesy of SHINee's Jonghyun) over the "Crazy" singer's light and breathy vocals. If Dam Bi would have promoted it rather than dropping it on us like a load of bricks it could have done better on the charts.
3.Stellar-Silhouette
4.2NE1-Gotta Be You
5.AKMU-200%
6.TVXQ-Off-Road
The only album cut to make the list, the orchestral R&B midtempo track is one of the standouts of its parent album "Tense", which on its own is one of the best LPs of the year. Changmin and Yuhno showcasing those golden pipes after ten years in the K-Pop industry, which is almost unheard of.
7.JiYeon-Never Ever
JiYeon's chart position was probably affected by the fact that her parent group T-ARA had a "major" scandal that the public has yet to let go after two years, but that doesn't take away from the fact that as a whole, the slow burning SISTAR19 copycat "Never Ever" is one of the strongest K-Pop debuts in recent times.
8.TROY-Green Light
9.A Pink-Mr. Chu
A Pink's "Mr. Chu" is so generically K-Pop that this list should almost be invalidated. Almost. It's sickeningly cute but also great at hooking the listener and not letting go for the full 3 1/2 minutes that the song is playing. The late 90s early 2000s pop influence is the icing on the cake.
10.Neon Bunny-It's You
The Korean equivalent to US singer Banks, Neon Bunny's throbbing electronic based alt-R&B track makes you feel warm and extremely sensual at the same time. You could imagine it being played at a futuristic lounge where the drinks are all neat neon colours.
