Maroon 5 "Maps"

Maroon 5's last album "Overexposed" was exactly that. The album went platinum, all the singles went top ten, but the band's poppier sound did not resonate with me personally, with the only song I enjoyed from the era was "Love Somebody". The band doesn't seem like they are changing their tune with "Maps".

"Maps" sounds like a late addition to the song of the summer race, with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers guitar and the recycling of the militant drum line from "Payphone". The chorus is both amazing and annoying at the same time: annoying because Adam Levine doesn't have the lung capacity to pull it off and make it sound great and amazing because it's the best part of the song. The song was co-written by songwriter extraordinaire Ryan Tedder, who really needs to keep some of these songs for himself. I would rather hear Ryan perform these songs with OneRepublic (or solo) rather than some of the acts he relinquishes them to. As of right now, I'm indifferent to "Maps".
