As I was looking at K-Pop reaction videos for Super Junior M's "Break Down," I came across two neitzens fangirling over a bunch of random K-Pop stars featured together in a video. I assumed that SM Entertainment had finally taken the time to make a super group from each of their respective idol groups and I was kinda right. SM The Performance is actually a dance unit made up of TVXQ's Yunho, Super Junior's Donghae and Eunhyuk, SHINee's Minho and Taemin, and EXO's Kai and Lay. The super suprising thing about this is that the group covered one of my favourite EDM songs: Zedd and Matthew Koma's "Spectrum." The fact that they acknowledged Zedd's flaw free masterpiece is a feat in itself, but for them to cover it and have choreography done for it? So, how does the K-Pop version fare?
I really liked this version of the song. Aside from the fact that I couldn't identify each individuals voice (only because I'm not too familiar with the respective groups). If this was actually a K-Pop song and released earlier last year, it would have topped my best of list. The electronic beat really goes well with their harmonies as well. It really isn't much different from the original (minus the languages of course)
Overall Grade:B
The group did do a performance with the song but they didn't do the full thing. Instead, they used other EDM songs, including Skrillex's "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites," Knife Party's "Centipede" and Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me."
