Lorde wins her first of two Grammy Awards for Pop Solo Performance and Song of The Year |
Last night was the best in terms of performances in years, from Beyonce's wet hair don't care rendition of "Drunk In Love" to remembering why Metallica is probably the scariest metal band of all time with their Lang Lang assisted "One" performance. We could have done without about three and a half of them (Nate Ruess's appearance was not necessary, we would have been happy with Pink's flawless acrobatics during "Try".) The big winners of the night were Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who took home 4 trophies (with three in the rap categories and Best New Artist), Daft Punk with 3(including Record of The Year and Album of The Year) and Lorde with 2 (Song of The Year and Pop Solo Performance). The biggest upset of the night had to have been that Kendrick Lamar went home empty handed, though his critically and commercially successful "Good Kid, Madd City" should have easily nabbed the rap categories. Not even Macklemore's damage control texts can mend that. Hopefully he'll have another shot in with his future release, due sometime this year. Check out the list of winners and some of the performances from the show.
