Rain Makes The Panties Drop In "30Sexy", Causes Controversy With "La Song"

Rain finished his mandatory military service late last year and began plotting a comeback. He signed with Cube Entertainment (4Minute, BEAST) and wasted no time announcing that his next album "Rain Effect" would be released in early 2014. Now we have two videos for two cuts from the LP: "30Sexy" and "La Song".

"30Sexy" is a R&B bop. A real R&B bop! Compared to this time last year, everyone was releasing high energy tunes to get the blood pumping, but Rain went in the opposite direction and sexed it up for ya! I believe he intentionally made the 30 sound like dirty much like Miley Cyrus did with Miley/Molly in "We Can't Stop" so there's that. Him singing in that upper register though...ugh! I can't deal...
Then we have "La Song". The song is more upbeat then its dirty/30 counterpart, with influences of mariachi music and New Jack Swing and the la la la chorus which is perfect for a night of drunken karaoke. While the song isn't controversial, it's the video that has people abuzz. I think the video was made for the international fans, but that's no excuse for the content. There lots of non-Asian/persons of colour, with most of the black people acting as props and doing little interaction with Rain. Then there was one particular scene where Rain pulls a Robin Thicke "Blurred Lines" style and approaches a black woman asking her to "show him what she got" and her boobs and butt grow wayyyyyyyyy out of proportion. This can be viewed as the hypersexualization of the black woman, which is a major stereotype. I won't go further than that but you can read this article about it, which goes more in depth. This will unfortunately because 1.)Rain isn't under international scrutiny and 2.)K-Pop is filled with very defensive people who claim their biases can do no wrong.  Watch and judge for yourself.
