Sonamoo "Deja Vu"

In the mist of B.A.P filing for contract nullification, TS Entertainment has debuted their newest group Sonamoo (which coincidentally look like a female counterpart to B.A.P).

The 33 Best Songs of 2014

This year has been a disappointment in music overall. In America, the overhyped machine known as "Frozen" somehow dominated album charts, the radio beat the same songs into our brains with more gusto than in previous years and critics collectively sucked up to Taylor Swift's latest collection of fifth grade level songwriting and heralded it as the best thing ever. Puke. The K-Pop landscape was also barren with most of the girl groups wanting to be sexed up to the nines by their agencies, the boy groups wanting to seem either over emotional or over hardened by the streets, and groups who took major creative risks last year opting to go back to the box set (pun intended). However, it wasn't all bad, with irresistible pop gems, Bossa Nova inspired bops, soul-wrenching midtempos and songs that were all in all fun to jam to.
Songs in this list were released between 12/20/2013-12/20/2014 or had a parent album released in 2014.

Foxes "Glorious" (Directors Cut) Music Video

The video for "Glorious" came out back in July, but Foxes is still getting that #Promo months later.

Charli XCX "Breaking Up"

Charli XCX is not a happy camper this time around.

Jessie Ware "You & I (Forever)" Music Video

The newly married Jessie Ware has been moving with the promotion of her second record "Tough Love". Can you believe she's on single #4?!

Gwen Stefani "Spark The Fire"

I'm just now hearing "Baby Don't Lie" on radio, yet Interscope is moving on so fast!

The 2014 VMAs: The Good and The Meh (Short Recap)

This year's VMAs was not one for the books. Questionable winners, Jay Pharoh effectively annoying the general public with his impressions and a performance list that didn't reflect the current trends of popular music. All that aside there were some good moments and some really meh moments. The meh outweighed the good so I kept the meh as short as possible.

Ella Henderson "Chapter One" Album Sampler

Ella Henderson's debut, "Chapter One" won't be here officially until mid-October, but you can enjoy some clips of the smash album to tithe you over.

Snapshot Review: Porter Robinson "Worlds"

Porter Robinson
Worlds
Released August 12th 2014
Porter Robinson sheds the EDM coat that established him and pulls an Avicii-sized genre mash/shift in style with his debut LP "Worlds".

Hilary Duff "All About You"

Two new Hilary Duff songs in less than a month! After the original queen of Disney queen reintroduced herself with the summery bop "Chasing The Sun", her and RCA have surprised us with the official first single from her yet-to-be titled 5th studio album, "All About You".

Jessie Ware "Say You Love Me"

PMR isn't dragging its feet this time around. Jessie Ware's "Tough Love" just became her first top forty hit in her native UK and sharing the sparse yet atmospheric deluxe track, "Share It All", Ware's second official single has arrived!

DJ Mustard "Tinashe Checks In" (Extended)

Tinashe's "2 On" has been my official urban summer smash while everyone has been bopping to Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" and "Black Widow" with Calvin Harris's personal vendetta Rita Ora. DJ Mustard (who produced the track) dropped his debut album "10 Summers" today, but to be honest, I was not interested until the queen of overindulgence in marijuana and alcohol posted a snippet of a song she was featured on.

The Knocks "Classic" (feat. Powers)

The Knocks give us something else to talk about this year with their latest single release.

Ella Henderson Does The Damn Thing on "Good Morning America"

Ella Henderson has already snatched the charts in her native UK, Ireland and Australia with song of the year contender "Ghost" (penned by Ryan Tedder) and now the former "X Factor" contestant is setting her sights across the pond.

Ella Eyre "Comeback"

Ella Eyre ain't too happy with her fella.

Paramore "Ain't It Fun" Gets The Choreographed Treatment

"Ain't It Fun" did wonders for Paramore this year, scoring them another major radio hit and their first U.S top ten single. Aside it from being a satirical look on growing up, it's also a great reflection on your youth as well, shown here in this video featuring Maryland dance crew Tito Boyscouts.

HyunA "Red"

HyunA never fails to deliver a solo bop. Getting past the ridiculous of "Bubble Pop" allowed to me to genuinely enjoy "Ice Cream" and her Trouble Maker singles as well. So I don't feel bad at all for saying "Red" is the most addicting K-Pop song of 2014.

Porter Robinson "Flicker"

Porter Robinson's "Worlds" will more than likely be my favourite electronic driven release (if Calvin Harris doesn't release). "Sad Machine" and "Lionhearted" were both good for what they were: downtrodden melancholy and cinematic EDM. "Flicker"...

Thoughts About Hilary Duff''s "Chasing The Sun"

Hilary Duff's return to the music scene is finally a reality after constant rumours, speculation and teases by the "Lizzie McGuire" star herself over the past seven years. Here are a few thoughts I have about "Chasing The Sun":

Jessie Ware "Share It All"

"Share It All" is a deluxe track from Jessie Ware's anticipated sophomore set "Tough Love", proceeded by the single of the same name.

Jay Park "Nana" (feat. Loco)

The last Jay Park song that I was fully invested in was "Joah" back in April of last year. The others he's dropped between then ("I Like 2 Party", "Metronome", "Taekwondo") didn't do much for me or his Last.Fm plays. His newest,  "Nana" is produced by frequent collaborator Cha Cha Malone and features fellow AOMG member Loco.

Troye Sivan "Happy Little Pill" (Updated)

Australian actor and YouTuber Troye Sivan put fans in frenzy a when he announced he was releasing his debut self-titled EP in August. Being the person that he is, Troye shared the full audio to the first single, "Happy Little Pill" two days before its official release date.

Gorgon City "Unmissable" (feat. Zak Abel)

Gorgon City already scored two hits this year, including the #1 single "Ready For Your Love" with MNEK. "Unmissable" is the third offering from their debut "Sirens", coming in October and is arguably the best of the three songs.

SISTAR and Infinite Board The Mediocre K-Pop Train With "Touch My Body" and "Back"

July was looking like it was going to redeem the current banal state of K-Pop this year. Girls Day, B1A4, Dynamic Duo and Nu'Est dropped more than adequate tunes for my ears to genuinely enjoy. And then SISTAR and Infinite's comebacks happened...

Banks "Beggin For Thread"

Banks's highly anticipated "Goddess" LP will be here sooner than you know it and with a good majority of the tracks out now, the LA-based singer dishes out another in the form of "Beggin For Thread".

Pharrell "Come Get It Bae" Music Video

"Come Get It Bae" was chosen as the second American single after the positive response it got from fans during his performances on SNL and The Voice (and because "Marylin Monroe" was not a good choice as a follow-up, let's be honest).

Dynamic Duo & DJ Premier "AEAO"

Another huge step for Korean music. Dynamic Duo have caught the attention of famed American hip-hop producer DJ Premier and collaborated.

Rizzle Kicks "Tell Her" (Official Music Video)

A few weeks ago, Rizzle Kicks debuted their new single "Tell Her" via an Evian ad/promotional video with tennis star Maria Sharapova. Good thing that wasn't the actual video. The duo shared the official visuals for the song today.

Alexandra Stan "Dance"

After testing the waters with her K-Pop influenced single, "Cherry Pop", Alexandra Stan returns to a radio-friendly sound with her newest song, "Dance".

DJ Fresh "Flashlight" (feat. Ellie Goulding)

Ellie Goulding is still milking the "Halcyon" era for what it's worth...sort of.

Nu'Est "Good Bye Bye"

Hey YO! Nu'Est is back! On a (insert producers name here) track! MAKE SOME NOISE!

B1A4 "Solo Day"

B1A4 are on their second comeback of the year after releasing their first album and winter midtempo track, "Lonely" back in January.

Girl's Day "Darling"

The month of July is redeeming the state of the K-Pop scene in 2014. First f(x) deliver the genre bending madness that we've been yearning for with "Red Light" and now Girls Day serve some sun tinged realness with the summer single "Darling".

Shift K3Y "I Know"

Shift K3Y scored his first top five hit with "Touch" earlier this year and is eyeing the #1 spot with his second release "I Know".

Album Review: Example "Live Life Living"

Exanple
Live Life Living
Epic Records

"Playing In The Shadows" was the darkest that Example has been and unless he hits rock bottom, he will ever be. "The Evolution of Man" was the less appreciated sequel, telling the tale of a man on the mend. "Live Life Living" is the third and final chapter of the trilogy: one of reintegration living life to the fullest, but dangerously straddling the line that started the trilogy, as heard on "Take Me As I Am".

Fifth Harmony "Bo$$"

Fifth Harmony have officially arrived with their ode to big dreams and independence, "Bo$$".

Foxes "Glorious" Music Video

Foxes is trapped in a "Stepford Wives/Pleasantville" type country club in the video for "Glorious".

Example "10 Million People"

I have been enjoying Example's "Live Life Living" a lot more than I thought I would, to the point that I have grown to like the previous flop singles that aren't "One More Day". One of my personal faves from the album is the spiritual sucessor to the aforementioned "Day", "10 Million People".

f(x) "Red Light"

Not f(x), the neglected little sister of SM Entertainment, outdoing Girls Generation and EXO in the comeback game this year.

Hyomin's "Nice Body" Is Disappoinment To Say The Least...

With Jiyeon's "Never Ever" being a somewhat interesting song, but overall a strong concept, Hyomin's solo debut was looking to trump hers with the multiple picture teasers, a 19+ M/V and Brave Brothers produced title track.

The Madden Brothers "We Are Done" Music Video

"Cardiology" came out in 2010 and Joel Madden is getting his coins from the Australian version of "The Voice". A GC album is currently in the works, but in the meantime, Joel and twin brother Benji have formed a side project and released a single, "We Are Done" with its parent album "Greetings From California" to come in the fall.

Isac Elliot Hits Puberty, Drops New Single "Baby I"

"New Way Home" was cute and catchy coming from Finish pop singer Isac Elliot (he was 12). Now a year later, his voice is unrecognizable and deep on "Baby I". It's the same reaction I had when Cody Simpson dropped "On My Mind" after getting used to his high pitched voice on "iYiYi".

Stromae "Ta Fete" Music Video

While I still wait on America to get its shit together and make last year's non-Korean, foreign language pop song of the year "Papaoutai" a smash, I'll sit and watch the new "Ta Fete" video.

Rizzle Kicks "Tell Her"

"Roaring 20's" wasn't the sophomore album that I expected from Rizzle Kicks. It had a few bops, but as whole did nothing for me like "Stereo Typical". "Tell Her", their first non-freebie since "Roaring 20's" dropped last September, is another story.

Maroon 5 "Maps"

Maroon 5's last album "Overexposed" was exactly that. The album went platinum, all the singles went top ten, but the band's poppier sound did not resonate with me personally, with the only song I enjoyed from the era was "Love Somebody". The band doesn't seem like they are changing their tune with "Maps".

Broods "Mother and Father"

Kiwi duo Broods have been making waves on the blogs and independent circuit and with a major label deal and production courtesy of Joel Little (Lorde), what can stop them from getting some worldwide recognition?
